If you’re like most people, you may be familiar with dream boards. What makes them powerful is that they keep your goals right in front of you every day. Even on a subconscious level, you become ingrained to see your goals as a reality, therefore attracting the means to achieve them. Well, who says that a dream board is the only way to do that?
It’s not uncommon for children to draw pictures of their dream houses and cars, then put them on their bedroom walls. The fun doesn’t have to end when we grow up. We can cut out pictures of our goals and put them all over the house. Or draw them, if you know how to.
What is your dream net worth? Get a blank check and write it out as if the money were being given to you, then keep it in your wallet. Do you want a spouse and kids? Find a print out a picture, then put it on your wall. You can frame it if you want. That muscular body you’ve always wanted? Either cut the head off and put the body where you can see it, or Photoshop your head onto it. As a matter of fact, if you have skills with Photoshop, you can put yourself in many of your goal pictures.
If you have a dream car, why not cut or print out a picture of it to put in your car? Simply put the picture in your sun visor in a way that you can see it when the visor is down. Or you can tape it to your dashboard. Since you’re in a car anyway, you can pretend that you’re driving that dream car.
This is also fun for your kids. Teach them to get into the habit of decorating the house -c or at least their bedroom –with goals. Adulthood goals, requested birthday/Christmas presents, pets, etc. Remember, the younger a person is when they start personal development, the easier it is to instill that mindset into them.
This task doesn’t have to stop at pictures. If you’re like most people, you’ve seen houses that keep bible verses on the walls, or phrases like “home sweet home.” Have you ever seen a quote that speaks to you as if it were created solely for your situation? Why not print it out to pin on your wall? Why not print out several inspirational quotes and put them on the walls all over your home?
In addition to well-known quotes, you can type or write something to remind you of what you want for the day. On your bedroom ceiling, you can put something like “Today is your best day ever!” On your door, you can post something to the effect of “Time to meet my new clients!”
Why settle for generic quotes like “home is where the heart is,” when you can post quotes that light a fire in you? Why settle for just magnets on your refrigerator when you can use them to hold a checklist of your daily goals?
Make a nice day!
